Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre, apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Knoxville, has asked the faithful of the diocese to join him in responding to the call of the Latin Catholic patriarch of Jerusalem for a day of prayer and fasting on Tuesday, October 17, for peace and reconciliation in the Holy Land. Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa has urged Catholics to organize times of prayer with Euchartistic adoration and recitation of the rosary “to deliver to God the Father our thirst for peace, justice and reconciliation.” Cardinal Pizzaballa issued his statement on Friday. “The pain and dismay at what is happening is great. Once again, we find ourselves in the midst of a political and military crisis…Yet, in this time of sorrow and dismay, we do not want to remain helpless. We cannot let death and its sting (1Cor 15:55) be the only word we hear,” he said. Please join Good Shepherd Church in this day of prayer & fasting.
