1. We will no longer have people as Cantors. The Choir will take over that job. 2. READERS will be given a copy of the readings for their week ahead of time, so you can practice it. 3. A handout by the United States Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) was handed out and it explains what it means to be a READER. 4. The Reader will be up front (on the left) before the mass begins to make announcements at 9:25 AM. You can stay up front for the readings, or return to your seat, and then come up when it is time for the readings. 5. Your job is to make the announcements and read the first and second readings from the Lectionary book on the AMBO (podium). 6. Readers DO NOT announce the Responsorial Psalm in between the first and second readings. 7. After the second reading, close the Lectionary book and store it in the AMBO (podium.) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1. If the Deacon is absent, you may be asked carry the BOOK OF THE GOSPELS during the processional at the beginning of mass. Remember, announcements first, then go the back to get the BOOK OF THE GOSPELS. After the BOOK OF THE GOSPELS is placed on the left side of the Altar, you can sit on the left side where you will do the readings, or return to your seat, and then come up for the first and second readings. 2. If the Deacon is absent, the READER will read the Prayers of the Faithful located in a paperback book near you. The page should already be marked. (The Priest introduces this – listen for his words and he will also nod at you.) HELPFUL TIP: You can have the daily Bible readings sent directly to your email (for free) by signing up at the USCCB, web page. It just requires you to fill in your name and email address. If you were unable to attend, please notify Scott Mulligan. There are new ways of doing things and a new schedule for July-September.
